Thanks for the story. I can relate to going back to school and that really getting the wheels turning. Then coming to point where I could not possibly attend one more meeting.

Special Post: 1 year anniversary on JWN - My intro finally posted
by Awakened at Gilead ini came on jwd a year ago tomorrow, having realized that jws were not the truth, quite painfully, on march 29, 2008. i was here within a week, and within 2 months i was officially dad by my congregation.. ever since joining, i have never actually wrote down a comprehensive look at why i left the organization.
what doubts caused me to leave?
why did a gilead grad leave what i once considered so precious?.

Do you like bubbly personalities?
by rebel8 inwhen people are super bubbly/friendly/cheery, or constantly smiling ear-to-ear when the situation doesn't call for it, i immediately suspect they are either phonies, trying to sell me something, or suffering from bipolar mania.
that is not really very fair of me, but that's what springs to mind.. i hate nervous giggling too.
it completely grates on my nerves.

Starting Over, I now realize I need help and am opting for the natural methods of feeling shitty. Thank you so much for sharing the latest research.

As Christians, do you feel you can forgive anything and everything?
by ThomasCovenant ini was watching a program last night about peter sutcliffe aka the yorkshire ripper.. as some here may know, there are rumours that he may have some links with jehovah's witnesses via prison.
if it was true, it seems appalling to me that he could be viewed as my spiritual brother (if both he and i were jw's).. however, wouldn't the 'christian' attitude, to which many billions of earth's fellow passengers aspire to follow, be ''how wonderful that he has repented'' ?.
what if i was a southern baptist and he became one?

I agree with Blues Brother forgiveness can only really come from God. If someone has personally done me wrong like cheated, gossiped betrayed in some way, I try really hard to forgive them. That does not mean I would confide in them ever again or do bussiness with them. I may even distance myself a bit as self protection. However, if someone abused my child, no forgiveness from me. That would have to be between him and his maker.

Yet another career a JW is qualified for, a lollipop. You tell the school authorities on her. She can go right back to scrubbing toilets like before she landed that lollipop job!

This is such an interesting topic. My husband always jokes his childhood must have been horrific because he can't remember anything until he was like 8 years old. I, on the other hand, remember things very early on. My parents were always moving (to where the need was great and to pioneer blah blah), but I can remember an apartment where they lived until I was about 18 months old. My mom didn't believe it at first but I was able to draw a layout, how the furniture was arranged and also describe where the parking lot was located in relation to the front door. I also remember my dad talking on the phone to and meeting other women, probably thinking I was too young to be able to relate these events to my mother. Not only was I aware of what was going on, I was smart enough to keep my mouth shut or it would upset my mom. I would say this was like at age 3 or 4. I also remember being really little and going to the book study in footed PJ's and having to sit in the chair with a book in my hand while other kids played on the floor (I was pissed off even as a baby).

If I don't go it will be the first time in my life. My husband wants to go just to shut people up for another year and to appease family. We used to loathe people that only came to the memorial every year, do they really think that will save them? Now I see them from a different vantage point and maybe they just did it to shut their family up. My opinion is that it is extremely confusing to my children if we go. They are going to be fake love bombed that night and are too young to understand these tactics. What do you guys think?

All the Saturday morning cartoons. I remember standing on a stoop watching them through the window and the kids stretched out in their jammies. That was before Cartoon network, VCR or after school cartoons for kids, so if you missed them you missed them.

How many TIMES can a JW be DF'd before the ELDERS dismiss them PERMANENTLY?
by african GB Member ini know a "sister" who has been df'd 10 times for adultery within a period of 15 years..... she is married....her hubby was an elder until she got df'd for the 1st time...he was then deleted....apparently the sister was not happy in the bedroom, he was always away doing cong duties, including jcs....... she keeps getting reinstated, and usually it does'nt take long for her (not the usual 6 months).....apparently she is a very good actress (she cries like a baby in the jcs )..... how many times can she keep getting df'd and reinstated like this until the elders say it is enough?.

I've often wondered that myself. I know a few that have been in and out so many times you can't keep track. My mother keeps reminding me that even so in so is coming back. It is not exactly an encouragement to me that even the lowest common denominator is coming back. I can only assume she is horny and stupid. (not my mother, the one that's going back to the hall)

Mickey, I totally forgot about that. My favorite day was Monday too, it was always hard to explain to friends why that was. Ugh, we had Friday night meeting while I was I was in high school. I was always told what a protection that was from those evil football games. Funny when the CO came it always got switched to Sunday.
